How do I get pregnant?

A desire for a child can encourage many women to make better choices. They are better informed about the foods, drinks and medication they consume, and try to exercise better. If a woman wants to improve her fertility, paying more attention to her body is a good start. What else, though, can women do to maximize their chances of conceiving?

The most important advice for a woman who wants to get pregnant is to know her body well, especially her cycle. It is important to know how long the circles have in order to better synchronize the contact. The next  tips can help you capture, provided neither you nor your partner has a fertility problem.

Record your circle

It is right to keep an eye on whether the first few days of your period come regularly or irregularly so you can better predict when you have ovulation. The egg can only be fertilized for 12 to 24 hours after it is released. The semen, however, can survive in the woman’s body for up to six days.

Watch your ovulation

Women with a regular cycle usually have ovulation two weeks before their period comes. It is more difficult to predict ovulation in women with unstable cycles, but it is usually 12 to 16 days before the next period begins. There are several ways women can calculate what their most fertile days are. There are special tests at pharmacies that can help you predict when you have ovulation, which controls levels of luteinizing hormone in the urine, a hormone that increases during ovulation. The next three days after a positive result are the most fertile. Another way is by controlling body temperature. Immediately after ovulation, body temperature rises by 0.3 degrees Celsius, so the woman is more fertile for two to three days before this rise. The process can be time-consuming, since it is required that the woman records her temperature daily for at least three cycles. Finally, another way is to control the cervical mucus. Before ovulation, when the woman is more fertile, the amount of cervical mucus is increased, and it becomes thinner, cleaner, but also slippery to help the sperm move more easily to the egg.

Have sex on fertile days

The fertile days are about the five days before ovulation and ovulation day. One study found that pregnancy is most likely when there is contact two days before ovulation. Also forget about the old biases that posture on sex or how the woman should stand then influence in any way the concept.

Try to balance your weight

Excessive amount of pounds reduce the chances of pregnancy, as well as making the woman too weak. A woman with a Body Mass Index of more than 35 needs twice the time to get pregnant, and a woman with a Body Mass Index of less than 19 may need four times. Excessive fat produces more estrogen, which can cause complications in ovulation. If a woman loses 5-10% of her body fat before attempting to conceive, her chances of getting pregnant are rising. Finally, in overly weak women, there is a risk that their cycle may become unstable, or even ovulation may stop.

Treat yourself in a healthy way

While there is no specific diet that aims to improve fertility, eating a variety of healthy foods can prepare your body for pregnancy, filling it with valuable nutrients such as calcium, protein and iron. Therefore, fruit and vegetables, lean protein, as well as dairy and all healthy sources of fat are proposed. Good sources of folic acid, mentioned before, are green leafy vegetables, broccoli, beans, citrus and orange juice. It would be good to avoid fish with high mercury content, such as swordfish. Finally, beware of caffeine consumption: more than 500 mg of caffeine a day can reduce fertility. One with two cups of coffee, however, has no effect on the chances of concieving.

Stop the intense exercise

While exercise can help the woman’s body prepare for the demands of pregnancy and childbirth, intense exercise can cause complications in ovulation. It is common for women who are engaged in some form of very intense exercise to have difficulty in conception. You may also exercise with a lower-tense such as walking or by bike. You can buy a Copenhagen Bike Company bike, which is suitable for a comfortable and safe ride.

Learn about the relationship between fertility and age

As you grow older, your fertility decreases due to age-related changes in the ovaries, leading to fewer (and more “poor quality”) eggs. These changes start at 30, peak at 37 and then there is a rapid fall after 40.

Quit smoking

Smoking can lead to fertility problems in both men and women. Chemicals in tobacco, such as nicotine and carbon monoxide, speed up the rate at which women lose their eggs. Equally bad can cause passive smoking. Smoking marijuana should also be avoided.

Cut the alcohol

Drinking alcohol, even at reasonable levels (one to two drinks a day) can make it harder to conceive. Once the woman becomes pregnant, you can just completely forget about alcohol.

Organize your family and work environment

Try to make your environment as safe as possible. Exposure to pesticides or chemicals that can be used at work can damage fertility. If this danger exists, it would be good for a woman to be equipped with gloves or special glasses. Equally important is the management of stress, as the process of effort alone is anxious for many couples. Although it is not exactly confirmed what role stress plays in the chances of conception, it would be good for a woman to find ways to relax body and mind.

Admit when you need help

The couple should begin to think of fertility tests if the woman is over 35 and she is not pregnant after 6 months of effort. The sooner you discover any potential problem, the sooner it will be dealt with.
